I offer companionship on your journey and a space to explore, to question, and to feel without becoming overwhelmed or shamed. I believe each of us has the capacity inside us to meet the challenges of life, but often our own ability is obscured or derailed by habits or survival strategies we learned along the way. Therapy can declutter the inner life and bolster connection to our intuitive and confident self, as well as clarify how we want to act while facing features of the world that are outside our control.
In practice, I focus on establishing a relationship that feels safe and authentic, informed by my own ongoing journey deconstructing gender roles and fundamentalist religion. I work with a range of topics, including LGBTQIA+ identity, anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD, autism, personality disorders, romantic relationships/couples counseling, and polyamory. I use an eclectic mix of evidence-based treatments: Internal Family Systems (IFS), cognitive-behavioral interventions (e.g. CBT), narrative, psychodynamic, existential, therapeutic gaming, and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).
Personally, I'm a musician, performer, athlete, gamer (video and board), activist, and writer. I bring those experiences into the room, plus 17 years in non-therapy workplaces: IT (Epic), ecological conservation, and non-profit administration. I experience and think about how many features of modern living do not serve us, both as communities and individuals. I embrace counter-cultures, am curious about places off the beaten path, and want to keep learning about this world and ways to be in it.
If you're curious how I can help, contact me to book a free consultation. I offer psychotherapy virtually or in-person in Wisconsin, and my physical office is located on the east side of Madison. Outside of Wisconsin I also offer coaching, a non-clinical service that does not diagnose or treat mental health conditions. Coaching can help with life changes you're experiencing, clarifying values, identifying boundaries, or selecting goals.
I have immediate openings. The only insurance I can currently take is Medicaid, and likely Quartz in early 2027.
